Petrol Blue
The Depths of the Aegean
The Forgotten Song of the Sea
Between islands whose names dissolve in the wind,
and waves that have whispered for millennia,
lies a blue that is not simply colour —
but feeling.
Petrol Blue is the depth
where light does not end,
but begins to carry stories.
In these waters gods have loved,
heroes bled, poets wept.
The sound of the sea knows no language,
and yet everyone understands it.
The Lumina in Petrol Blue is like a dive
into memory.
Cool, but not cold.
Still, but full of movement.
She does not shine outward —
but inward.
You do not see the light — you feel it, like a current.
Why this shape
The arch is doing the work.
A doorway is the oldest way of carrying a load: push it out to the sides and the middle can stay open. Lumina carries light the same way — the structure is at the edges, and what you look at is the gap.
- 01
The dome
Opal, lit from within. It is the only part that glows; everything under it is structure.
- 02
The brass band
Separates dome from body, and stops two materials meeting in a seam you would notice.
- 03
The arch
A doorway carries a wall by pushing the load out to its sides. Here the load is light.
- 04
The fluting
Vertical channels catch light at a different angle to the flats, so the body reads as carved rather than moulded.
- 05
The opening
The arch is hollow. What you see through it is the wall behind, lit.
